Our Fees

The agreement between Lawyer and Client is fundamental in quantifying our fees, according to the Decree of the Italian Ministry of Justice no. 55/2014 (see www.consiglionazionaleforense.it in Italian language). Anyway, the basis of our fees is agreed with the Client before we commence work and it is in proportion to the actual legal service provided.

The first conversation or meeting (by email or by phone, too) is completely free but it is general. In other words, during the first meeting, we will determine the nature of your problem, see whether we can help you and, if so, at what cost. So, the first conversation is not a legal advice, it is only explicative of the potential, future defence and of our fees.

Online legal services are not free, but it is a solution that makes it easier, simpler and more affordable for Clients.

We make an approximate written estimate of costs and fees, according to Italian law.

Charging options

The Firm offers a variety of charging options to suit Clients’ needs, according to article 25 of the Code of Conduct for Italian Lawyers (see the website of the Italian National Bar Council www.consiglionazionaleforense.it).

As well as the traditional hourly rate, the fee agreement may be based on:

-          flat rates;

-          one or more businesses;

-          execution and time of the actual legal services provided;

-          single stage or performance or the entire activity of defence;

-          percent basis on the business value;

-          how much the receiver of the performance can benefit, not only on a strict asset basis.

In Italy, conditional fees (‘patto di quota-lite’ in Italian language) are not allowed, according to Article 25 par. 2° Code of Conduct for Italian Lawyers and to Article 13 par. 4° Law No. 247/2012).

According to the Italian law, in addition to fees the Client owes the lawyer a repayment of general expenses (15% of the total fees) and in case travelling expenses.
